Susan C. Small, playwright, poet, and author was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica in September of 1980. She migrated to the United States at the age of 3. Educated in the Philadelphia School District, Susan attended John Bartram High School where she majored in creative and performing arts.

Susan was introduced to the theater by her English teacher and mentor, Jeanette Jimenez, affectionately known as Dr. J by all her students, after which she began attending Society Hill Playhouse Performing Arts Program where she performed in numerous plays and musical productions.


Susan C. Small is an award-winning playwright who has written and produced plays for sold out audiences over the past 5 years. Known for her meticulously rehearsed, Broadway-quality productions she founded S. Charli Productions in 2010 with a mission to increase diversity in theater. Susan’s plays include "A Love That Forgives,  A Story of 4 Little Girls', "A Cinderella Story-Caribbean Style", “Club 44”, a musical set in Harlem and “Blue” which won her the “2015 Best Playwright Momentum Award”. Susan is currently working on her first children's production “Princess Nylah and the Journey to the Magic Window”.


In March 2016 S. Charli Productions launched its first bi-annual "THINK| CREATE| INSPIRE THEATRE FESTIVAL" held at the beautiful Venice Island Performing Arts Center in Manayunk, PA.  The theater festival created a first-of-its-kind platform in Philadelphia, for new playwrights to showcase original works Susan continues to use her art to affect positive change and growth in her community by inspiring others to discover and live out their purpose.
